BA Course.
BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design.
Course Leader:
Ellen Thorogood
The BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design course at NTU carries a rich legacy that traces back to the twentieth century and holds an established and respected reputation. The course has evolved over the decades, adapting to the dynamic boundaries of environments and spatial design. At its core, the course bridges the gap between architecture and interior design, nurturing critical thinking and inspiring students to adopt an explorative, iterative design approach that's rich in narrative, sensitive to context, and technically robust.
The course is dedicated to providing a platform for students to gain a deep understanding of design principles, cultivate design thinking, and acquire the ability to execute and articulate spatial ideas, both conceptually and technically. IAD at NTU has fostered a thriving culture of creativity and exploration, encouraging students to discover their unique voice and personality in the craft of making and representing spaces and environments. This has resulted in an annual output of diverse and rich making that encompasses both digital and physical dimensions.
This year, the final year studio continues its fascination with relics from the past, exploring their meaning, inherent significance, and qualities. This year's theme is centred around memory and embedded meaning in design, questioning the values we can derive from memories embedded in relics from the past, and how one can embed memories and values into a space for the present and future.
Over the years, the course has garnered recognition for nurturing creatives and producing graduates with exceptional qualities of work and ambitions. This year is no exception. We are thrilled to showcase and celebrate the work from the Major Project of our BA final year students.
