Spatial Concept

The Urban Earthship Community Centre is the transformation of the Bromley House Library in Nottingham into a community centre which draws inspiration from the Earthship concept, an architectural philosophy promoting self-sustainability and harmony with the environment. The area of focus currently being the Yoga Studio and The Yoga Studio Balcony. Inside the studio, a bamboo ceiling will enhance the natural aesthetic while providing durability and sustainability. Cane doors will further contribute to the eco-friendly design, offering a warm, organic feel. The interior will be characterized by a brown texture colour palette, invoking the earth's natural tones, and a sky-themed stretch ceiling will add an element of tranquility and openness, encouraging a peaceful and meditative environment.

Spatial Concept

A key feature of this redevelopment is the yoga studio with an extended balcony. The balcony will be supported by walls constructed from glass bottles set in concrete, an Earthship hallmark that not only repurposes waste materials but also creates a visually striking and structurally sound feature.
