Project
This project is a community centre with a focus on people with dementia. The new structure that is wrapped around the old windmill is like memories imprinted on the landscape of the mind over time.
At the centre of this space is a bridge, connecting not only two physical points but also bridging the gap between generations. As the wind flows through its design, it tells stories of the past. For the elderly, the bridge acts as a path of remembrance and for the children playing on its beams, it opens a path to understanding and empathy.
Project
People suffering from dementia have difficulty identifying their environment and where they are. Therefore, to help them navigate and comprehend the area, I coloured the ramps a vibrant blue to easily distinguish the interior and outdoor areas. In addition, the blue pathways combine with the interior furniture to guide individuals on their way and help them move through spaces.
