2084 Narrative
In 2084, England endures relentless climate change, its once picturesque landscapes now desolate. Amidst this reality, a group of scientists discover a hidden site in Yorkshire—the ruins of a forgotten monastery buried by the environment. They unearth a relic, a mechanical harmonograph drawing machine, and learn it creates mesmerizing drawings.
Intrigued by the possibility that these drawings could regenerate nature, the scientists make the site, now called 'Eden’s Echo' their home. Providing protection from extreme weather, the sanctuary becomes a hub for their efforts to revive lost flora. The scientists believe the harmonograph’s drawings can serve as blueprints for resilient plant species capable of withstanding the harsh conditions beyond their haven.
Spatial Concept
The conceptual and spatial exploration of the mechanical harmonograph drawings has profoundly influenced my design. Initially, it guided me toward transforming two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional objects. This exploration led my studies into how these drawings could be translated into structures and forms, ultimately shaping the design of Eden’s Echo.
This sanctuary will encompass various spaces, each serving a unique purpose. It will feature a worship garden for collective celebration, meditation rooms for private reflection, a tomb to safeguard the relic, and a workshop dedicated to discovering new flora. The worship garden will offer a serene environment for contemplation, aiding the exploration and appreciation of both the architectural design and the diverse plant life.
