Kent Community Culinary School is a
pioneering hydro-powered adult education centre and
homeless hostel, offering specialised training
in cooking and marine studies. Equipped with
teaching kitchens, a coastal cuisine restaurant,
and hostel accommodations, it aims to enhance
employability and life skills among the homeless
population. Located in a
coastal region, the school prioritises durable,
erosion-resistant materials and low-embodied
carbon materials to align with its sustainability goals.
To investigate the optimal construction material in a community kitchen to achieve a net zero carbon scheme
The issue of carbon emissions and embodied carbon within the construction sector specifically during the transportation and construction stages, has led to more research into improving the sourcing of construction materials in the UK in addition to the impact of those materials on the environment.
