Provides a new flagship educational building, whilst facilitating a community café and exhibition space. The new educational building embraces the spirit and aspiration of MIT’s Fab Lab in democratising new technologies for students and small businesses, whilst also providing a much needed improved public realm focal point for the adjacent community.
The scheme will bring an exciting mixed-use development to the Canal Quarter and Nottingham as a whole, providing students, researches and small businesses advanced technical knowledge and manufacturing equipment, within the setting of a collaborative educational facility. Inspiring a new generation makers and manufactures.
The Research interrogates the pressing need for effective storm water management strategies in urban areas. With the escalating challenges posed by climate change and rapid urbanization, the implementation of sustainable urban drainage strategies (SuDS) becomes paramount in mitigating flood risk and enhancing water quality. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of SuDS configurations in reducing greenfield run off rates within urban watersheds, with a specific focus on flood risk mitigation and improving water quality by reducing pollutant infiltration. The methodology encompasses a comprehensive approach integrating qualitive and quantitative research techniques, culminating in simulation based results within Storm Water Management Model (SWMM).
