Located on Cathedral Green, in the historic centre of Derby, the Centre for Sustainable Farming seeks to enhance public knowledge of sustainable farming practices such as vertical farming. It will also serve as a hub for research into cutting-edge vertical farming techniques.

The ground floor hosts an exhibition space that leads visitors through the evolution of farming techniques, which leads to the first floor, showcasing three vertical farming techniques: hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics. A vertical farm research hub on the second floor will produce leafy greens to be sold locally.

The project will form part of the redevelopment vision of Derby City Centre and help to bring in more tourists.

Due to the risk of flooding from the River Derwent, I have chosen to produce a research report titled 'Harnessing Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) for Surface Water Management'. The final site masterplan incorporates a SuDS management train comprising of a green roof, permeable paving, and a bio-retention cell.
