The proposed site sits within the site boundaries of the new East of Harlow development in Essex, which is one of four new residential developments contributing to the new Harlow and Gilston Garden Community, aiming to deliver 16,000 homes by 2033. This project is all about helping the rapidly growing garden community which currently lacks sufficient amenities to support the community. The hub responds to the concerning decline observed in the health and well-being of a significant proportion of individuals across England. Therefore, this facility prioritises supporting the community as a whole and stands as the first complex in Harlow to embrace a holistic and biophilic approach to individual wellbeing, addressing an individual’s mind, body, and soul.

By merging community and commercial benefits, aiming to establish a financially sustainable project, with generated profits reinvested into the community. Harlow Council have recognised the need for this multi-use facility within community to create a safe and welcoming space, providing enjoyment and support for all. This hub integrates four pivotal components: food and beverage facilities, designated exercise areas, spa and treatment amenities, and versatile multi-use spaces. The project has prioritised sustainability, making it one of the primary goals to attain BREEAM Excellent certification and incorporate sustainable materials throughout.
