Project
Intervening in the city seeks to create a space for the locals in Venice amidst the overwhelming presence of tourist attractions. The transformation of the iconic Peggy Guggenheim museum into a triathlon training facility stands as a testament to this endeavor. By adapting the triathlon to the Venetian context, the project offers a unique opportunity for residents to engage in physical activity and competition within their own city.
While the new athletic build preserves the historically important facade of the Guggenheim, it also expands on the existing green space, creating an oasis where art and nature converge. Inspired by the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the design incorporates the concept of the spiral, reimagined as a running track within the museum’s confines. This innovative approach seamlessly merges art, architecture, and athletics. Ultimately, the project represents a commitment to preserving Venice’s cultural heritage while embracing the needs and aspirations of its residents, fostering a sense of ownership.
