Spacial Sampling
Atelier 03: Craftmanship
Project
Music as a craft immerses both the producers and the experiencers. In the modern world there is a digital disconnection between music creation, distribution, and consumption. I want to address this by creating a space where the music production process is appreciated throughout, and at the highest quality providing optimum experiences.
The craftmanship in music has seen a decline due to the digital disconnection. Analogue music production techniques use skills that require a craftsmanship’s touch and encapsulate a wider experience of appreciating music. From Album artwork, learning techniques and instruments, collaborating, and performing. Nottingham is a significant landmark within the UK boasting a rich industrial history, diverse culture. Through the concept of sampling, I want to create a space that draws from all parts of Nottingham, the culture, the history, the craftsmanship and the architecture. All these elements together to create something new. The space for people of all background and experiences to have a space that captures the craft of music production, and what it can provide to communities and beyond.
