Project

The design of a Civic Building dedicated to the Art of Ceramics has a strong foundation in the history of the timeless craft. It is an ancient form of self-expression and an inspiring tool for avant-garde artists.

To foster the concept of Shibui, I am borrowing inspiration from Japanese Architecture to enhance the simplicty and unobstructed beauty approach.

The Centre will take place at the heart of Nottingham, neighbouring an art gallery surrounded by gathering facilities. Henceforth, the space provided will offer places for thinking, making and gathering.

There is a particular focus on the richness of raw and natural materials, inspired by the ceramics composition itself and the research carried out.

A simple design is encouraged to assist the user in understanding the space and developing sensitivity to nature as an unobstructed beauty. Therefore, the centre is shaped in a clean, simple and integral design.

Finally, the ethereal element to achieve this atmosphere is light sensitivity. Its movement, its intensity and other nuances.
