Do you like Wine? Do you love Wine? Do you Wine to unwind?

Well, let me tell you a story about Wine.

Did you know that the Romans brought wine and viticulture to Britain when they invaded in 43 AD? The Romans were remarkably advanced. They are renowned for their love of conquering and wine. This tradition has shaped our culture, landscape, and architecture. Fast forward to 2020, during the height of lockdown, a farmer discovered Roman pottery on their land leading to an archaeological dig by English Heritage and Leicester University. They uncovered a vast rural complex with a stunning mosaic depicting scenes from the Trojan War, offering a unique glimpse into the past and inspires the future vision for the site.

Join me as we explore how wine, history and architecture intertwine, revealing this exciting experience from the Romans that still influences and brings us joy.

My focus lies in a design intervention that embraces and promotes the significant historical findings of the site, along with the revitalising and bringing back the original function of the site.
As a designer, I believe that giving this personal touch of proposing a Visitor Centre and then venturing into the winery and wine-tasting experience embodies the experience that the owner of the Roman Villa experienced at the time.

My proposal, the Rutland Vinous Odyssey Project is a testament that truly reflects and showcases my passion and enthusiasm for the unification of history, wine, and architecture.
